FAQs
What is Pharmacogenomic Testing with GeneSight?
As part of our commitment to personalized mental health care, we offer GeneSight® pharmacogenomic testing, a simple at-home genetic test that can help guide medication selection for psychiatric treatment.
Psychiatric medication management often involves finding the right medication through a trial-and-error process. With over 200 medications available to treat mental health conditions, individuals can respond very differently to the same medication. During this process, some patients may experience unpleasant side effects, minimal symptom relief, or frustration with treatment.
GeneSight testing provides additional information that can help guide a more tailored approach to personalized medication decisions.
How does GeneSight Testing Work?
GeneSight analyzes how your genetic makeup may influence your body’s response to certain psychiatric medications.
The test is ordered by your prescribing clinician.
A collection kit is mailed directly to your home.
You collect a sample by gently swabbing the inside of your cheek—a quick and painless process.
The sample is mailed back using the prepaid return packaging provided.
The laboratory analyzes your DNA through purification and genotyping.
Results are typically available in as little as 3 business days and are sent to your clinician.
We will review and discuss the results together to determine a customized treatment plan.
What is the Cost?
GeneSight strives to make testing accessible and affordable!
All insurance plans accepted, coverage amounts will vary.
Regardless of coverage or for self-pay patients, the cost will not exceed $330.
